The Rabbit Hole - 19th Edition

Welcome back to The Rabbit Hole! Election Edition!

Life Update: I am writing to you on Tuesday night from my couch as I watch election coverage unfold. This stuff is entertaining and dramatic! Tight races, battleground states, and surprise swings! This is my first time voting, thus the closest I’ve paid attention to the race. I’m dialed in but am left questioning when Jill Stein is gonna start picking up some states?

Been a good week, I enjoyed a nice long weekend. It was Halloweekend pt. 2 and I had a ROCKET of a costume with my Jeff Probst getup:

Of course, no one had a fucking clue who I was, but I had to let everyone KNOW who I was. Kirkey and Charlie had an electric costume which consisted of Charlie wearing a massive trench coat while he sat on Kirkey’s shoulders, making an illusion of an absurdly tall man. This was a massive hit with anyone who saw it, asking for pictures and videos; “OMG that’s so cool!” “WOW can I get a pic!?” “Holy shit you’re tall!” I was in shambles. I couldn’t compete. So I had to do something. I had an EXTREMELY funny bit where when everyone was going crazy over their costume, I’d go “Hi, I’m Jeff Probst, host of the CBS hit show Survivor." It was a massive hit. I turned a few heads and Aden himself couldn’t shut up about how funny it was. I even had someone ask me to take a picture of them with the trenchcoat and after I was like “I’m sure you want a picture with Jeff Probst, host of CBS’ hit reality social experiment show, Survivor!” They didn’t.

My costume was such a hit, that I had to run it back on Saturday night with a different shirt and necklace. Mary and I went thrifting on Friday morning and found a variety of items that allowed the possibility of mixing and matching. This just may be my new go-to Halloween fit!

I watched a movie that made me want to lose weight in the past week. That’s the highly paraphrased version, but I reached out to the only person I knew who would be able to give me some sound advice, The Kid, and I was blown away by his immediate helping hand and eagerness to get me started. He gave me a presentation and everything. I’m approaching one week on the new regimen, and It’s been going well. All about getting into a routine.

Creative Corner: Trivia Tails has been a bit on the back burner which isn’t ideal as we near the championship match. Before the weekend, I did the semifinal with Kirkey and Sharpie and I unfortunately forgot to hit record. I’ve come to the decision that there’s nothing else I can think to do other than just put a disclaimer on the second semi-match with an apology and the official result of the match. I knew this would happen eventually, I’m just glad it didn’t happen for the championship match.

The Turkey Bowl is fast approaching. I plan on sending out the sign-up survey this week and beginning the build for the 4th annual TB.\

Had one of my longest shows on Monday which will be available on the WXUT SoundCloud by the end of the week. Anora, the favorite for best picture thus far, releases in the Ann Arbor Cinemark this week so I’ll have to make the drive up there to go see it. The review will of course be featured on next week’s TCS.

Content I’ve Consumed this Week Cave: Not too much to report tbh. I can’t think of many new things I’ve been consuming. Tyler’s new album is great. Uzi officially needs to retire, holy ass that new album was. G and I began a new show called “Nobody Wants This.” Pretty good so far.

Been watching a few new releases lately, which I covered on this week’s show. Conclave is a political, religious thrill that I’d highly recommend. The new movie that had the biggest impact on me that I watched in the last two weeks, though, was We Live In Time. Wow, I wasn’t prepared for how deep that movie would cut me. I was fresh off of the first leg of my double feature at the theater (Venom: The Last ASS), and I had the nerve to sit down in my seat without bringing tissues. Probably the most I’ve ever cried during a movie?? At least certainly in the last year. Left a personal anecdote here. I was just so impacted by this movie. I had to walk out of the movie still crying because the worker began coming in to clear the theater. I stepped into the bathroom to grab some paper towels to wipe my eyes and blow my nose, and a guy saw me and said “Let me guess, Venom?” Made me chuckle. Couldn’t recommend that one more. My second-best film of this year so far. It’s what ultimately made me decide to make a change with my weight.

Riffin’ Recap: On Saturday night, I encountered a fellow Survivor costume wearer at Kirkey’s party. Probably the only two people on campus wearing something Survivor-related, and we happened to be in the same place. Wild stuff. I wish I had gotten the picture I took with him.

That is all, here we go Jill Stein!
