The Rabbit Hole - 8th Edition

Welcome back to The Rabbit Hole! We’re in the thick of it now.

Life Update: I’ve been living. I came down with a cold on Wednesday night, which caused me to call off sick from work the following day. I already was taking Friday off as I had my wisdom teeth removed that morning. I’ve heard a ton of people say how dreadful their recoveries were from this procedure, but I’m having a grand ol’ time. The day of was rough because my face was numb for the majority of the day, but after that, I’ve had minimal pain/swelling and have just overall been having a good recovery process. I wanted to experiment with the pineapple juice method but ended up forgetting about it, so that may just be a myth.

It was a pretty chill weekend. The Rabbits (aka Jmart, Sam, Cam, and I) opted to stay in both Friday and Saturday nights, which I’ll always be in favor of. I have no idea where some of you fuckers keep going. I bet I’ve spent more combined days in the Dexter/Ann Arbor area while working in Toledo than a few of you who have been based there this summer. I’m thankful we’re getting everyone together up north in August so we can all catch up. I specifically cannot recall the last time I saw Kirkey. It may have been a month ago for the Birthday Bash.

Creative Corner: I might as well just call this The Christian Show segment because that’s the only creative project I’ve been doing lately. I talked a whole lotta Marvel on this week’s show, of course breaking down Deadpool & Wolverine but also talking about the biggest headlines coming out of SDCC. The most prominent, of course, was the announcement of Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU to play Dr. Doom. I had a lot to say, and I recorded the show, so here is the full, unedited show. You’ll just have to skip through the breaks.

Content I’ve Consumed this Week Cave: Nothing too out of the ordinary. I watched a few movies in preparation for the weekend's big release. Deadpool & Wolverine kicked off a banger 3-week stretch of movie releases. This weekend we get M. Knight Shaymalan’s latest film, Trap, and the weekend after that is Alien: Romulus. We movie fans will be fed over these next couple of weeks. This year has been very up and down in terms of movie quality. We have a few more coming that I could see making waves, but I’m very intrigued with what this year’s Academy Awards lineup will look like with a relatively weak year for film.

Riffin’ Recap: My cousin who I hadn’t seen in years was in town over the weekend with his girlfriend because she got a job in Boston so they’re moving there together from California. On Saturday night they tasked me with the burden of the TV remote, giving me their faith to put something good on. I wasn’t caught up on Big Brother yet so I decided to throw that on and hope it lands. Luckily it was one of the more drama-filled episodes of late and it had the folks HOLLERING. All-time boss up moment for myself.

Rabbit Spotlight: Coming up on the final two rabbits to be featured. This week, we had Keegan under the bright lights. Let’s see what Keegan had to say to my hard-pressing questions…

Q: What is your favorite color?
A: Blue

Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Tomato and cheese pasta

Q: What is your favorite Rabbit bit? (past or present)
A: I don’t feel so good…..

Q: What is your fondest memory involving the Rabbits?
A: This is a really hard question. Miami comes to mind first, honestly mainly the car rides. It’s the journey not the destination eh? But also the first birthday bash, the first DC trip, Destin, MSU tailgating this year, the list goes on. But Miami prolly rules supreme for me.

Q: What is your favorite trip you’ve been on with the Rabbits?
A: See above. Oh also Farwell last year was great. Can’t wait for up north this year and hopefully we can also get a banger post grad trip in too.

Q: What are your hopes for the Rabbits in the future?
A: I think someone has mentioned it already but it’d be sick if all of us and our kids lived near each other as adults. In the more near future tho it’d be cool if we lived in the same city (or even as roommates👀) as young new grad workers. Or at the very least we visit each other often and get to see everyone’s digs and where they move to and so on. Also I hope for some banging bachelor parties.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add about our awesome friend group?
A: I feel very grateful to be part of such a tight knit group. I think we have something that many people don’t and for that we’re lucky. I’m also very proud of everyone as we’ve gone through high school and college I think we’ve all grown so much and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish as we become adults. My life wouldn’t be the same without yall and being a part of the WR has definitely been formational for my sense of humor, outlook on life, etc, so shoutout and love everyone.

Thank you, Keegan, for participating! And that only leaves one last Rabbit that has yet to be spotlighted… anyone know? We’ll find out next week! See ya.
