The Rabbit Hole - 5th Edition

Welcome back to The Rabbit Hole! Let’s recap the 3rd Annual JUNE BIRTHDAY BASH!!!!!!

Life Update: Let’s cut straight to the chase, over the weekend one of the most anticipated events of the year took place… KIPKE WEEKEND WOOOOOOOO!!!! I’m of course kidding we bashed on Saturday and it ruled. The event returned to where it all began, the Alabre residence. This time, though the parents were home, which you’d think would be a hindrance, but most agreed that it enhanced the night overall. I won’t harp on it too much. We all were there. I just want to thank everyone for helping set up, inviting people, and making it an unforgettable night and one that will live in Rabbit lore forever.

Outside of that, I’ve had a solid week. I can’t really think of much else to note.

Creative Corner: I had my show once again on Monday. This week, the major talking point was a full Pixar filmography breakdown. I went through all 28 feature films in Pixar’s catalog, giving brief thoughts on each, and at the end, I ranked them from 28-1. I noted on the show that this was certainly the most prep work I’d done for a show but it was worth it, I heard positive reviews from those who tuned in, one even saying it was my best show yet! This week made me want to do longer breakdowns of filmographies/lists in the future so be on the lookout for stuff like that.

Content I’ve Consumed this Week Cave: I watched a record 14 movies since last Wednesday, the majority of them being Pixar. I find that when I’m going through a certain filmography, I tend to be more motivated to get through it, having the show also helped keep me accountable. My boss is out of town this week so that means I’ll be watching a ton more from now till when we speak next.

I’ve also been watching a ton of soccer. Copa and the Euro’s have been dynamite this week. Especially the Euro’s with the group stage in the rearview, these knockout games have been high drama. Most notably, the Portugal v. Slovenia match was electric. Ronaldo played horribly all game, even missing a pen in extra time which would have surely given his country the win. I unfortunately didn’t catch the shootout because I had to start my show but the Slovenian keeper who had been stellar all day seemed to crumble and his teammates did him no favors by getting all three of their attempts saved. Turkey v. Austria was also amazing on Tuesday. I'm still rooting for the Netherlands in Euro’s (the only team with a Spurs player that remains). In Copa, America faced a devastating loss, on Monday night, eliminating them from tournament play. We just never had it this time around. Uraguay is one of the best teams in the tournament and we stayed with them for the majority of the game but just fell apart in the second half. A lot of the discourse was centered around the ref, which was certainly warranted at times. He made some head-scratching calls but the FOX broadcast was RIPPING him to shreds. Felt a bit racist tbh. We’ll see what USAMNT can do in the World Cup in 2026.

Riffin’ Recap: Just wanted to quickly shout out my guy Christo who was at the bash on Saturday. He’s one of King Jack’s friends and he was a legend. He approached me because he recognized my rock tattoo from Everything Everywhere All at Once, and he’s just the second random person to recognize what it originates from. I was hyped, and we went on to talk movies for the next 30+ minutes, and we probably dapped 45 times throughout the conversation. Any time we shared the same opinion on something he’d go for one.

While we’re on the topic of tattoos though. Are we doing a Rabbits tattoo this summer? I know a lot of us are down but I feel like we may have a few skeptics. If we were, I’d have to book the appointment soon to get in before we all went back to school. And it’d be hard to coordinate with everyone’s schedules. Something to ponder in the coming days.
