The Rabbit Hole - 4th Edition

Welcome back to The Rabbit Hole! Let’s get freaky.

First things first, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JMARTTTTT WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Now no one has an excuse for forgetting to wish Jmart a happy birthday. I can see who reads these, be warned.

Life Update: I’ve had quite a busy week since we last spoke. Finished out the work week strong, and the weekend was a hoot! Friday, my boss was off work so I checked three movies off of my watchlist at work. From there, I parlayed that into a trip out east to the D to watch the Tigers beat up on a disheveled White Sox team. Always fun to get out to the ballpark. Eat a frank, drink a beer, do the wave. Nothing like it Later that night Cam, Kirkey, and I took our talents to the Beer Garden, meeting a few of Cam’s new co-workers who were chill as hell. We got into some mischief which I’ll get into more detail in later on, but a great day overall. Saturday, a few of us went out to Dexter’s Bi-Centennial celebration. There was a ferris wheel downtown which was quite the sight to behold, I was shocked to see the transformation that area took. The d was turned into a whole carnival. We grilled out at Sam’s after that and played this new, fun pool game. Khalid took me out to dinner to eat at The Earle.

My Four Cheese Penne

Khalid’s French Onion Soup

Khalid got this drink called Penicillin because he saw it had ginger and he likes Moscow Mules, but it turns out it was a Scotch drink, so I ordered a refreshing cucumber-gin drink which was much more palatable. Delicious dinner, overall.

Post-dinner we headed over to Kirkey’s for a nice lil pre-game before heading to Skeeps. Khalid accompanied which was fun, it was an interesting mix of people there. I wanted to get pretty lit, so I even resorted to drinking beer, which is rarely an option for me. I think beer is gross, but it effectively got the job done. Ripped like 3.5-4 tequila shots and I was ready to go. Oddly enough, I wasn’t feeling almost anything while waiting in line at Skeeps, but the moment we got in there things took a turn. First thing, Khalid handed me this massive pitcher of Moscow Mule which was delicious and I downed that thing. After that, I was reeling. Midnight hits, I turn 21, and everything is a blur from there. Kirkey hands me this Long Island, we cheers and the rest of the night feels like one of those party/club compilations you’d see in a modern movie. Flashing lights, singing, dancing, but just flashes of each moment. We left Skeeps and that’s when I started to lose control. We head to NYPD and almost right when I get in line I start feeling nauseous so I rush out of there and puke on the sidewalk, and some more in a dirt patch. I was then sprawled out on the curb looking like I was on fent until the Uber Khalid called came for us.

The only pic I have from that night

This is how I felt I looked like

My birthday itself was a lot of fun as well. I won’t go into too much detail because this has already been a long segment, but I’ll throw some pics up so you get the gist.

I was so happy to get my gifts!

Brennan Johnson THE GOAT

To be transparent, I had seen this jersey sitting on top of the dryer like a month ago but I kept my mouth shut because I didn’t want to ruin Mary’s surprise. Still a dope gift, though.

And the start of this week has been good. I just want it to be the weekend SO WE CAN FUCKING BASH!!!!!

Hit one week clean of social media and feeling great.

Creative Corner: I started The Christian Show back up on Monday. The new time is Mondays from 5:30-7:30pmish. Felt great getting back. I love doing that show, I’ve felt an empty hole in me ever since I stopped. Hard to believe I’m on episode 14, but I love every second. Shoutout to those who tuned in, no matter how long you popped in for, I always appreciate people at least throwing it on to support. It’s usually just my parents and the occasional random other family member who listens, so it meant a lot that a couple of you made it on for a bit. I never expect anyone to listen, given I talk about really niche things, but again showing support always feels really good.

I delayed my Pixar run-through until next week to give me time to get through that entire filmography, but I’m chugging along.

Content I’ve Consumed this Week Cave: So many podcasts, man I’ve pretty much filled my time off of social media with listening to every podcast I can. Mostly movie ones, and a couple on the Almost Friday and Barstool networks. House of the Dragon this week was crazy, I loved talking about that on the show on Monday. I’m starting to think that it’s becoming one of my all-time favorite shows (granted I’m not a show guy at all) and I’ve seen a lot of people say these first couple of episodes have been slow but I couldn’t disagree more. They’ve been awesome. Can’t wait for next week.

I’ve been listening to so much Zach Bryan, I might fuck around and be ashamed of myself for how deep into his catalog I’ve gotten. I do feel myself naturally defaulting back to my rap playlist, which has been good. I’m a little scared to look at my wrapped for this year. If this trajectory continues it’s gonna be ZB, Noah Kahan, and Chapell Roan in my top 3.

On the movie front, pretty much all Pixar. Tune into next week’s show on Monday to hear my full ranking of Pixar films.

Riffin’ Recap: These next two segments are direct Rabbit suggestions. I’m not exactly sure what this one will become, but the premise is to recall any funny/big moments that happened in the last week. I sort of used my life update as that so I’m thinking I use this for any side character introductions/bits I found really funny/interactions worth noting.

The one that immediately comes to mind took place on Friday night at Bill’s. Kirkey and I were sitting at the end of the table with Cam’s co-workers and were primarily talking to one of the guys, while the others played Euchre (that’s a disgusting spelling). We were just chilling when an old, fat man approached us and said “This looks like the fun table!” and sat down at the end of the table next to ours. Kirkey being Kirkey starts chatting the dude up and being all friendly. My immediate thought was “Wow this is sad this guy comes here alone and tries talking to kids who could comfortably be his grandchildren.” So we’re talking and he’s pretty nice himself, we were playing a game of Ride the Bus at the time, so we invited him to play. After explaining the rules clearly (ride the bus is like the simplest drinking game ever) the dude proceeds to lose on the first card like 6 times in a row and he’s drinking an Old Fashioned. Not the typical drink college kids would choose when playing a game like this so he’s downing pretty much straight whiskey. Eventually, he lost so much that he started arguing that it was a trick deck and demanded to see the rest of the cards. After finally getting to the third round he has a Queen and an Ace, and has to say whether the next card will be inside (1-Jack, 11 cards) or outside (literally only King, 1 card). He inexplicably chose outside and we felt bad at this point so we tried to lean him in the other direction, clearly explaining that the odds heavily suggested it would be inside, but he refused to change his decision and lost. He then said “I have to go, someone’s waiting for me".” to which I responded, “Who?” and he turned to me and said “My friend… he pauses… my lady friend.” He got up and walked away. All-time “are we getting Punk’d?” moment. The dude just seemed to spawn and despawn like an NPC.

Wild interaction, and one I felt fit this segment well.

Chrissy’s Counsel: This is another fan-suggested segment. He did mention that it may overlap too much with the content I’ve consumed this week, but I’ll do my best to differentiate. This will just be somewhere I can give simple recommendations without much explanation. I’ll go more in-depth with the other segment.

Movie: Hit Man (Netflix)
Show: House of the Dragon (MAX)
Album: 1999 - Joey Bada$$
Song: WILDFLOWER - Billie Eilish

Sharpie came with the heat. Stirring the pot in places, and giving interesting insights in others. Big thank you to him, as the pot of unchosen Rabbits grows smaller.

We’ll find out next time. Until then, have a great week! THE FUCKING BIRTHDAY BASH IS ON SATURDAY LETS GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
